I know that "baited breath" is spelled wrong and has nothing to do with "fishbait". I just hope that I don't just end up with fish breath. I am waiting with baited breath for the release of Finale 2012. I will be away tomorow during the day, but I will try to finish it off tomorrow night. I don't have the expertise to make it open from the setup wizard, but at least you will be able to use the files that I post to do what you need. I am working on a "working" version of the files that you will need. Once again, nothing percussion is checked. The page was even updated on J(3 days ago) however the. XML file in the Knowledge Base which purports to be a corrected file for the VDLite instrumentation. I keep going back to my line about nobody checking anything percussion related. "When all is said and done, more is said than done." Even the Maps don't have all the sounds? What's up? The bug is that the keyboard isn't highlighted, so you don't know where they are but they still play. So, when someone uses the Wizard, and expects there to be playback, this bug is the culprit.Īside from the limited selection of Cymbals chosen in the Layout, this bug (or flaw) makes things worse. If you re-selct the Cymbals from the list, the keys are now highlighted. The Cymbals chosen in the Aria player shows no keyboard notes. when the Wizard sets up an instrument, and then you go into the aria player, the keyboard should show the corresponding keys that match the MIDI assignments for that sound.

Beside the limited Layout (4 cymbals) that doesn't match the Aria setting chosen, you've got a bug here. There is no other scenario.)įavorite Forum quote: "Please, everybody, IGNORE THE TROLL!" Either that, or they found them, but still didn't care. They will of course be wrong, because there are SO MANY PROBLEMS in the percussion that no one could possibly have bothered to test anything, or they would have discovered the issues. (I really am hoping that someone at MakeMusic challenges me when I say that no one bothers to test anything percussion related. It is there in the setup wizard, but the setup wizard doesn't care about offering you percussion stuff that doesn't actually exist, since no one at MakeMusic bothered to test it, because it is percussion related. I don't need to create anything afterall. You need to choose the Tapspace Drumline for Finale instruments. You can however CHOOSE the Garritan marching percussion instruments in the setup wizard. There is not an actual Garritan cymbal line, or any other marching percussion instruments that come with the Garritan instruments that come with Finale. I do wish that the folks in the development team at MuchMusic actually tested ANYTHING related to percussion, because it is so obvious that they test NOTHING related to percussion in the last couple of years. It won't take me that long necessarily, but I won't have a chance to do it for a few days. Give me a few days and I will work up what you need. If you look in the VST instruments assignment in the ARIA player, there are 16 sounds assigned. If you look in the "Percussion Layout Designer", there are four sounds assigned. The problem is that the percussion map that Finale chooses is not the correct map for the Garritan instruments.

Macbook Pro 10.6.4, 2.66GHz Intel Core i7, 4 GB Welcome to the nightmare that is known as percussion playback. I hope this at least gets you pointed in the right direction! It played back, but with the wrong instruments. Since I don't use Garritan, I loaded the smart-synth. When I started playback, it said there was nothing loaded in slot 1 in the instrument setup. This file has been downloaded 322 time(s). Test file.mus 42KB (application/octet-stream) Nice mill working, by the way - very impressive! "As a musician, he's a damn fine woodworker." I've checked and the staves haven't been muted (at least they don't appear so), and the mixer window even shows the their activity during playback. My problem is the following: any staff that I create with the Garritan Cymbal Line makes no sound during both playback and note creation.
